I AM DOING A GREAT WORK

? Reading: Nehemiah 6:3
Key Verse: “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down.” — Nehemiah 6:3
? Devotional: Don't Come Down From the Wall
Something interesting happened when Nehemiah began making progress—the distractions increased.
His enemies repeatedly tried to pull him away from Jerusalem. But Nehemiah understood something important: every invitation does not deserve your attention.
His response was simple: “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down.”
That wasn't arrogance. It was clarity.
Nehemiah knew what God had called him to do, and because he understood his assignment, he could recognize distractions when they appeared.
The same is true for you.
Not everything demanding your attention deserves your energy. Some things aren't necessarily sinful—they're simply distractions from what matters most.
You are doing a great work when you faithfully serve your family. You are doing a great work when you pour into others, build your marriage, raise your children, serve God's Kingdom, pursue the calling He has given you, or quietly obey Him when nobody is watching.
Don't allow temporary distractions to pull you away from an eternal assignment.
Stay on the wall.
? Personal Reflection
What distractions, discouragements, or voices have been competing for your attention and pulling you away from what God has called you to do?
? Life Application
Identify the two biggest distractions currently competing with your God-given priorities. Decide what boundary you can establish this week to reduce their influence.
Then remind yourself:
“I am doing a great work. I cannot come down.”
? Closing Prayer
Lord, give me clarity concerning the work You have placed in my hands. Help me recognize distractions before they pull me away from my assignment. Give me the wisdom to say no when necessary and the discipline to remain faithful. Keep my eyes fixed on You and my hands committed to the work. In Jesus' name, Amen.
