Christ Alone Is Enough

Devotional
In our achievement-driven culture, we're conditioned to believe that more is always better. We add credentials to our résumés, supplements to our diets, and unfortunately, requirements to our faith. But Paul's message to the Galatians is revolutionary: Jesus plus anything equals bondage. This isn't about being lazy or uncommitted in our faith. It's about recognizing that Christ's work on the cross was complete and sufficient. When we add human requirements—whether it's perfect church attendance, flawless behavior, or religious rituals—we're essentially saying Jesus' sacrifice wasn't enough. The freedom Christ offers isn't earned through our performance; it's received through His grace. You don't need to be more spiritual, more disciplined, or more worthy. You need to be more convinced that what Jesus did was enough. The cross wasn't a down payment requiring your good works to complete the transaction—it was the full price paid in full. True spiritual freedom comes from resting in the finished work of Christ, not from adding to it.
Bible Verse
'There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.' - Romans 8:1
Reflection Question
What have you been trying to add to Jesus' finished work to feel more accepted by God?
Quote Jesus plus anything else equals bondage. You're still in bondage because it's Christ and Christ alone. That's it. You don't need anything else in your life.
Prayer
Jesus, help me rest in the completeness of Your sacrifice. Remove any tendency to add human effort to Your perfect grace.
