The Foundation That Never Fails

Devotional
Have you ever watched a house being built? The most critical part isn't the beautiful exterior or the fancy interior design - it's the foundation. If the foundation is weak, everything else will eventually crumble. In our spiritual lives, we face the same reality. Many of us have built our faith on things that feel solid but are actually shifting sand: our good works, our church attendance, our moral behavior, or even our religious knowledge. These things aren't necessarily bad, but they make terrible foundations. The cross of Christ is the only foundation that will never crack, never shift, and never fail. It's not just a symbol we wear around our necks or hang on our walls - it's meant to be the bedrock of everything we are and everything we do. When storms come (and they will), when life doesn't go according to plan, when our health fails or relationships break, what remains standing? Only what's built on the cross. Today, take an honest look at what you've been building your life on. Is it truly the cross, or have you been trusting in other things to hold you up?
Bible Verse
'May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.' - Galatians 6:14
Reflection Question
What areas of your life are you building on something other than the cross of Christ, and how might God be calling you to shift that foundation?
Quote
The cross is our foundation. Everything should be built on the cross. We build on anything outside of the cross. We're building on a faulty foundation.
Prayer
Lord, help me examine the foundation of my life honestly. Show me where I've been trusting in my own strength, achievements, or circumstances instead of resting fully on the cross. Give me the courage to rebuild on the only foundation that will never fail. Amen.
