Truth In A Post Truth World

Devotional
We live in an age where the phrase 'that's your truth' has become commonplace. Society tells us that truth is personal, subjective, and that everyone's version is equally valid. But what if truth isn't something we create - what if it's something we discover? Paul stakes his entire ministry on the fact that what he's sharing isn't just his opinion or personal experience. He's so confident in the truth of his message that he's willing to swear before God that he's not lying. That's a pretty bold statement in any era, but especially powerful in ours. Consider this: if someone told you they had the cure for cancer, you wouldn't say, 'Well, that's your truth, but my truth is different.' You'd want to know if it actually works. Truth matters when lives are at stake - and our eternal lives are definitely at stake. The gospel presents us with claims that are either true or false. Jesus either rose from the dead or He didn't. We either need salvation or we don't. These aren't matters of personal preference like choosing between chocolate and vanilla ice cream. They're objective realities that don't change based on our feelings or cultural moment. This doesn't make us intolerant or narrow-minded. We can absolutely respect others' right to believe differently while still maintaining that truth exists and matters. In fact, if we truly love people, we'll care enough about truth to share it, even when it's uncomfortable. The beauty is that this truth isn't cold or distant - it's personal. Truth has a name, and His name is Jesus. When we encounter Him, we're not just learning facts; we're meeting the One who is truth itself.
Bible Verse
'I assure you before God that what I'm writing you is no lie.' - Galatians 1:20
Reflection Question
How do you respond when culture tells you that all religious beliefs are equally true, and what would it look like to lovingly but firmly stand for the truth of the gospel in those moments?
Quote
The ultimate question is what version of the gospel is true? It doesn't matter what I think. It doesn't matter what I want. It matters what's true.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the way, the truth, and the life. In a world that's confused about truth, help me to stand firmly on Your unchanging Word. Give me wisdom to speak truth in love and courage to not compromise when it matters most. Amen.
