Gold, Silver, or Stubble?

Devotional
In God's house, there are different types of materials—some precious like gold and silver, others temporary like wood, hay, and stubble. The difference isn't in our salvation but in our spiritual maturity and usefulness. Gold and silver represent believers who have grown in Christ-likeness, becoming productive and valuable in God's kingdom. They've moved beyond just receiving to becoming conduits of grace to others. Wood, hay, and stubble represent those who remain spiritual infants, consuming but not contributing, attending but not advancing. The beautiful truth is that we get to choose which material we become. Through daily surrender, community connection, and intentional growth, we can transform from temporary materials into precious metals. This isn't about earning God's love—we already have that. It's about becoming the mature, productive believers He's called us to be. When we prioritize Christ-likeness above all else and stay connected to the body of believers, we naturally become more valuable in God's kingdom work.

Bible Verse
'For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is.' - 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Reflection Question
What evidence in your life shows that you're becoming gold and silver rather than remaining wood, hay, and stubble?

Quote
The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you become. See, in the house of God, there's different types of people. It describes gold and silver, but it also describes us as what? It describes us as things that burn. Wood, straw and stubble, hay, things like that. Things that burn. We don't want to be that. We want to be gold and silver in the house of God.

Prayer
Lord, transform me into gold and silver in Your house. Make me productive and useful for Your kingdom purposes.
