The Art of Following

Devotional
Leadership and followership are both arts, but in the Christian life, we're called to master the art of following. This isn't passive submission—it's active response to God's leading. Think of it like dancing with a skilled partner. The beauty comes not from both people trying to lead, but from one leading gracefully while the other responds with trust and skill. Our spiritual growth happens as we learn to follow Christ's lead in every area of life. This means making every effort to respond to His promises, not to earn His love, but because we already have it. The Christian life isn't about us taking charge and asking God to bless our plans. It's about Him leading and us following, Him directing and us responding. As we decrease in our self-will and increase in surrender, we discover the freedom that comes from letting the Master lead. This daily surrender isn't weakness—it's the pathway to true strength and spiritual maturity.

Bible Verse
'In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.' - Proverbs 16:9

Reflection Question
In what area of your life do you need to stop trying to lead and start learning to follow God's direction?

Quote
Christian life is about him leading, we following. He's not just coming to church. It's not just singing Kumbaya. It's him leading our lives from here forth and we following.

Prayer
Lord, teach me the art of following You. Help me surrender my need to control and trust Your perfect leadership in my life.
