Praise and Worship

My name is Donavan Charles, and I am honored to serve as the Worship Director at Praise Tabernacle, a church I have proudly called home since 2008. I hail from the breathtaking island of St. Lucia, and I am blessed to share my life with my amazing wife, Karen, to whom I’ve been married for 23 years. Together, we are the proud parents of three wonderful boys: Ethan, Nathan, and Aaron.

Stepping into the role of Worship Director in September has been a profound moment in my journey. Looking back, I see how God orchestrated my path to bring me to Praise Tabernacle, where my gifts in music and worship could flourish. Though I’ve been involved in music from a young age—singing in choirs and playing instruments like the guitar and piano—it was here that God opened doors for me to use those gifts to bless others and bring Him glory. The encouragement of our leaders and the supportive environment of this church have allowed me to step into this calling with joy and gratitude.

As the leader of Praise City, our worship team, my heart is to cultivate a community of worshippers who love God deeply and are committed to glorifying Him through music. Our vision is to use our God-given talents to create an atmosphere where people can encounter God, be refreshed in His presence, and see their lives transformed. Worship, for us, is more than music; it’s a powerful act of drawing closer to God and leading others to do the same.
