RISE AND SET YOUR HAND TO THE GOOD WORK

? Reading: Nehemiah 2:17–18
Key Verse: “Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.” — Nehemiah 2:18
? Devotional: It’s Time to Put Your Faith Into Action
There comes a moment when prayer must lead to movement.
The people of Jerusalem had lived among broken walls for so long that the ruins had become normal. Then Nehemiah arrived with a God-given vision and challenged them to see beyond what was broken.
Their response was powerful: “Let us rise up and build.”
They didn't simply agree with Nehemiah—they put their hands to the work.
It is possible to be inspired by what God says while never acting on what He says. We can pray, worship, say “Amen,” and still delay the very step of obedience God is asking us to take.
But faith was never meant to remain only in our words.
God has placed gifts, opportunities, relationships, and assignments in your hands. You don't have to know every step before taking the first one. Rise. Start where you are. Use what God has given you.
Your next season may begin with one simple act of obedience.
? Personal Reflection
Is there an area of your life where you have been agreeing with God in your words but delaying action?
? Life Application
Identify one step of obedience you have been postponing. Write it down and commit to taking that step this week. Ask someone you trust to pray with you and hold you accountable.
? Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for calling me to participate in Your work. Give me courage to move beyond good intentions and into obedience. Show me where I need to rise, and strengthen my hands for the work You have placed before me. I don't want to simply hear Your Word—I want to live it. In Jesus' name, Amen.
