Base Camp or Summit

Devotional
Every mountain climber knows the difference between base camp and the summit. Base camp is where you prepare, get equipped, and gather supplies. But it's not the destination—it's just the starting point. Many Christians treat church like it's the summit when it's actually base camp. We get equipped on Sunday, but life is where we climb. The goal isn't to become comfortable at base camp; it's to use what we've learned to reach new heights in our spiritual journey. Spiritual maturity requires us to take what we receive in community and apply it in our daily lives. We're not called to be spiritual consumers who just attend services and Bible studies. We're called to be climbers who use every tool, every lesson, and every encouragement to ascend higher in Christ-likeness. The mountain of spiritual maturity is climbed one step at a time, one day at a time, one choice at a time. Don't settle for base camp living when God has called you to summit experiences.

Bible Verse
'Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.' - Philippians 3:12

Reflection Question
Are you living at base camp, just consuming spiritual content, or are you actively climbing toward spiritual maturity?

Quote
Church is the base camp. This is where you get equipped. Life is where you climb.

Prayer

God, don't let me settle for base camp Christianity. Give me the courage and determination to keep climbing toward Christ-likeness.
