Raise Your Hands

Devotional
There comes a moment in every believer's journey when God gently says, "Now it's time to move." Standing at the edge of the Red Sea, the Israelites saw only an impossible situation. Behind them was Pharaoh's army. Before them was an uncrossable sea. Fear gripped their hearts, and they cried out in desperation.

God's response to Moses was both simple and powerful:
"Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the Israelites to move on." (Exodus 14:15)

There is a time to cry out to God, and there is a time to trust what He has already spoken.

Faith is not passive—it moves in obedience.
When Moses lifted his staff over the sea, the wood itself held no power. The miracle came because Moses obeyed. His act was an outward expression of inward trust.

Our worship functions much the same way.
When you lift your hands in the middle of uncertainty, you are not pretending your problems don't exist. You are declaring that your God is greater than every storm surrounding you. Praise shifts our perspective from the size of our obstacle to the greatness of our Savior.

Paul echoes this truth in Philippians 4. Rather than allowing anxiety to consume us, we are invited to bring every concern to God with thanksgiving. As we do, His peace—not our circumstances—guards our hearts and minds.

Sometimes the sea doesn't part until after we've taken the first step of obedience.
Today, choose praise before the breakthrough. Worship before the answer. Trust before the evidence. God is already making a way, even if you cannot yet see it.

? Life Application
Take a few moments today to praise God before asking Him for anything.
Thank Him for His faithfulness, His promises, and His presence. Write down one area where you've been waiting for God to move, then intentionally surrender it to Him through worship instead of worry. As you do, ask yourself:
  • Where is God calling me to move in faith?
  • What step of obedience have I been delaying because of fear?
  • How can I replace anxiety with worship today?

Remember, obedience often becomes the bridge between God's promise and His provision.

? Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for always making a way, even when I cannot see one. Forgive me for allowing fear and anxiety to overshadow my faith. Help me to trust You enough to take the next step, even when the outcome is still unknown. Teach me to worship You before the breakthrough comes, believing that You have already gone before me. Fill my heart with Your perfect peace, guard my mind from worry, and strengthen me to walk in obedience every day. May my life be a testimony that You are faithful, powerful, and worthy of all praise.
In Jesus' name, Amen. ??
