Strength That Starts With Surrender

Devotional
There is a moment in every calling where you hit a wall. You realize the task is bigger than you, the gap between where you are and where you need to be is too wide, and your own strength simply is not enough. For Moses, that moment came at the burning bush. For Gideon, it came when God kept shrinking His army instead of growing it. For Paul, it came through a persistent struggle he begged God to remove. And in each case, God's answer was essentially the same: good. Now we can get started. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12 that God told Him directly, "My grace is sufficient for you, and my power is made perfect in weakness." That is not a consolation prize. That is an invitation. God's power does not compete with your strength. It fills the space your strength cannot reach. The moment you stop trying to manage everything on your own is not a moment of defeat. It is the moment you finally become useful. This is deeply encouraging because it means you do not have to wait until you feel strong enough, prepared enough, or confident enough. The very season where you feel most inadequate might be the season God has been waiting for. Surrender is not giving up. It is making room. And when you make room, God shows up.

Bible Verse
"Each time he said, 'My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.' So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me." - 2 Corinthians 12:9 (New Living Translation (NLT))

Reflection Question
In what area of your life are you still trying to rely on your own strength, and what would genuine surrender to God look like in that specific situation?

Quote
"My grace is sufficient for you, and my strength is made perfect in weakness. God, I'm about as weak as I've ever been. Perfect. I could use somebody like that right about now. The weaker the better."

Prayer
Father, I stop trying to handle this in my own strength. Fill the gaps I cannot fill and let Your power be seen in my weakness. Amen.
