Love Speaks Louder

Devotional
Our words are windows into our souls. Every conversation, every comment, every response reveals what's truly living inside our hearts. When we're cut off in traffic, when someone disagrees with our opinion, when plans don't go our way - these moments unveil our authentic selves. Jesus understood this connection between heart and mouth, which is why he emphasized that love must be the primary ingredient flowing from our hearts through our speech. It's easy to speak lovingly when everything is going well, but the real test comes in those unguarded moments when our true nature emerges. The challenge isn't just to think loving thoughts, but to let love shape our words consistently. This means speaking truth with loving intentions, offering encouragement instead of criticism, and choosing words that build up rather than tear down. When love marks our hearts, it transforms our vocabulary. Complaints become gratitude, gossip becomes encouragement, and harsh judgments become gentle understanding. The world is listening to how we speak, and our words either draw people toward Christ or push them away.
Bible Verse
'Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.' - John 13:35 (New Living Translation)
Reflection Question
If someone recorded your conversations for a week, what would they conclude about what's living in your heart?
Quote
Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. So this speech, a person, what comes out of this person's mouth is an indication of what's going on on the inside.
Prayer
Father, guard my words and let love be the filter through which all my speech passes. Help my words reflect your heart and draw others to you.
