Back To The Root

Devotional
Have you ever noticed how a plant can look healthy on the surface but struggle because its roots are shallow or damaged? The same thing can happen in our spiritual lives. We might look like we're doing well—attending church, saying prayers, even serving others—but something feels off at the core. The word 'radical' has gotten a bad reputation in our culture, often associated with extremism. But its true meaning is beautiful: to return to the root, to go back to how something was originally intended to be. When it comes to our faith, radical doesn't mean becoming a religious fanatic. It means returning to the authentic, wholehearted relationship with God that He designed from the beginning. Think about when you first fell in love—whether with a person, a hobby, or even your faith. Remember that excitement, that genuine enthusiasm? Over time, it's natural for relationships to mature, but they shouldn't become casual or indifferent. God is calling us back to that place of authentic connection, where our relationship with Him isn't just a routine but a living, breathing part of who we are. This week, we're going to explore what it means to honor God radically—not through extreme actions, but by returning to the heart of worship, prayer, and devotion that He intended from the very beginning. It starts with recognizing that maybe, just maybe, we've drifted from our roots and it's time to dig deeper.

Bible Verse
'The burden of the word of the Lord to Israel by Malachi.' - Malachi 1:1

Reflection Question
When you think about your relationship with God, does it feel more like a routine you maintain or a living relationship you cherish?

Quote
The word radical actually means to take it back to the root to how it was intended to happen.

Prayer
Lord, help me to be honest about where I am in my relationship with You. Show me if I've grown casual or distant, and give me the desire to return to the authentic, wholehearted devotion You deserve. Help me understand what it truly means to honor You from the root of my heart. Amen.
