Making Refuge Your Home

Devotional
There's a difference between visiting a safe place and living in one. Many people treat their relationship with God like a vacation destination—somewhere they go when they need a break from life's pressures. But God's refuge is meant to be your permanent address, not a temporary retreat. Living in God's refuge means starting each day with the recognition that you belong to Him. It means acknowledging His presence not just in crisis moments but in ordinary Tuesday afternoons. It means dwelling in His promises when life is good and when life is hard. This daily dwelling requires intentionality. You must choose to trust God over what you see and feel, again and again. You must make space for His voice above the noise of circumstances. You must remember that every good thing in your life—including the very breath in your lungs—comes from His hand. When you make God's refuge your permanent home, something beautiful happens: you begin to see His goodness even in difficult seasons. You start to understand that He sometimes allows us to go through challenging things because there's something good to be gained from them, even when we can't see it immediately. Remember, everything that happens in your life has a purpose. You may need to search for it, but God has all the answers. When you're living in His refuge daily, you're positioned to receive His wisdom and see His hand at work in every situation. Today, don't just visit God's presence—move in permanently. Make dwelling with Him your daily practice, and watch how it transforms not just your circumstances, but your entire perspective on life.
Bible Verse
'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.' - Proverbs 3:5-6
Reflection Question
What would it look like practically for you to dwell in God's refuge daily rather than just visiting Him during difficult times?
Quote
The refuge. It cannot be a place that you visit. It got to be a place that you live in, constant all the time.
Prayer
Lord, I don't want to just visit Your presence when I'm in trouble—I want to make my home with You. Help me to dwell in Your refuge daily, trusting You in every situation and acknowledging Your goodness in all circumstances. Make my relationship with You the foundation of every day. Amen.
