Here I AM- Send ME

Devotional
When Isaiah heard God asking, "Whom shall I send?" his response was immediate and wholehearted: "Here am I. Send me!" This wasn't a casual volunteer moment—it was a declaration of complete availability to God's purposes. The Hebrew phrase "Here am I" carries the weight of readiness, attention, and willing obedience. It's the attitude that says, "I am present and available for whatever You ask." Too often, our prayers for the nations sound something like this: "Lord, send more workers to unreached places. Send someone to that difficult mission field. Send laborers to that dangerous region—but send someone else, not me." This kind of prayer, while well-intentioned, can become selfish when we consistently exclude ourselves from being the answer. The truth is, God isn't looking for perfect people or those with extraordinary abilities. He's looking for available people—those with a "Here am I" attitude. You don't need special training, a theology degree, or superhuman courage to be used by God in His global mission. You just need to be willing. This availability doesn't necessarily mean packing your bags for overseas missions (though it might). It could mean being intentional about building relationships with international students in your city, supporting missionaries financially, or simply being ready to share the gospel with your immigrant coworker. The key is maintaining an attitude of readiness for however God wants to use you. As we pray for the nations, we must be willing to be the answer to our own prayers. When we ask God to reach the unreached, we're also saying, "Use me in whatever way You see fit." That's the heart of true discipleship—complete availability to God's purposes.

Bible Verse

"Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying: 'Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'" - Isaiah 6:8

Reflection Question
Are you willing to be the answer to your own prayers for the nations, and what would it look like for you to adopt a genuine "Here am I" attitude in your relationship with God?

Quote
This here am I. This Hebrew phrase is a declaration of readiness, attention, and a willing obedience. It's this attitude that says, I am present and I am available for whatever you ask.

Prayer
Lord, I want to have Isaiah's heart—ready and available for whatever You ask. Help me move beyond selfish prayers that exclude myself from being part of the solution. Here am I, Lord. Send me wherever and however You choose to use me for Your glory.
