Fire Within

Devotional
Have you ever watched a fire slowly die out? What was once a roaring flame becomes nothing but cold ash. Our spiritual lives can follow the same pattern if left unattended. Just as a fire needs constant care—new wood, occasional stirring, protection from the elements—our relationship with God requires regular attention. God is awakening something within His people today. He's calling us to tend to the flames of our faith, to not let what once burned brightly for Him become mere ash. The prophet Joel delivered this same urgent message to God's people long ago—a call to return to the Lord with genuine hearts. When we neglect our spiritual lives, the consequences can be devastating. Like the locust plague Joel described, areas of our lives that once flourished can become barren. But here's the beautiful truth: God always provides a path back to Him. No matter how dim our flame has grown, He stands ready with forgiveness and restoration. Today, consider the state of your spiritual fire. Is it burning brightly, or has it begun to fade? God is inviting you to stir up that fire within—to reconnect with Him through prayer, worship, and His Word. He's not interested in superficial religious gestures but in the genuine condition of your heart.
Bible Verse
"Even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity." - Joel 2:12-14
Reflection Question
What areas of your spiritual life have you been neglecting, and what specific steps can you take today to begin rekindling that flame?
Quote
"If you leave a fire pit unattended, what happens? The fire begin to slowly dwindle. And what was once firewood, what was once coal, turned. Eventually turned into ash. Right? And with ash, you can't do nothing with it. It doesn't matter how much fuel you put on ash. It doesn't matter how much lighter fuel you put on Ash you can't do ash is good for nothing. It's a waste."
Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the times I've allowed my spiritual fire to grow dim. Today, I choose to return to You with my whole heart. Help me to tend to our relationship daily, stirring up the flame of Your presence in my life. Thank You for Your patience and Your promise of restoration. Amen.
