Leaning Toward God

Devotional
Your heart has a posture, and God is deeply interested in which direction it's leaning. Is it leaning toward Him or away from Him? This isn't about perfection - it's about the general direction of your affections, desires, and choices. When your heart leans toward God, you naturally seek His will in decisions, find comfort in His presence during difficult times, and desire to please Him in your daily life. When it leans away, you find yourself making choices based on your own understanding, seeking fulfillment in things other than God, and gradually drifting from His purposes. The good news is that God's mercy precedes His judgment. Even when you've been leaning away from Him, He doesn't condemn you. Instead, He graciously calls you back, offering you a fresh start and a new opportunity to align your heart with His. God is ready to give you authority and influence when He sees that your heart consistently leans toward Him. He's looking for people He can trust with His power, His resources, and His purposes. But first, He needs to see that your heart is truly His. Making adjustments in your life to ensure your heart leans toward God isn't always easy, but it's always worth it. It might mean changing some habits, relationships, or priorities. But every adjustment you make creates space for God to work more powerfully in your life. Today, examine your heart's posture. Where do you need to make adjustments? God is waiting to meet you there with His grace and power.

Bible Verse
"Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits." - Psalms 103:2

Reflection Question

What specific adjustments do you need to make in your life to ensure your heart consistently leans toward God rather than away from Him?

Quote
God is looking for our heart to lean towards him, not against him. Whatever adjustments that we need to make in our lives so that our heart posture may be leaned towards God, let's make those adjustments.

Prayer
Lord, I want my heart to lean toward You in every season of life. Show me what adjustments I need to make, and give me the strength to make them. Thank You for Your mercy and grace when I've leaned away from You. Help me stay close to Your heart. Amen.
