The Harvest Is Ready

Devotional
Have you ever walked through a field ready for harvest? The crops are full, golden, and practically begging to be gathered. There's an urgency in the air—wait too long, and the opportunity is lost. Jesus used this exact imagery to describe the spiritual condition of our world today, and His words ring truer now than ever. Contrary to what we might think, people aren't resistant to truth—they're hungry for it. In our age of information overload and conflicting messages, people are desperately longing to hear what's real and authentic. They're tired of empty promises and shallow relationships. Deep down, they're ready to be set free from whatever holds them captive. The encouraging reality is that the harvest is ready right now. You don't have to wait for people to become more open or for circumstances to improve. The person sitting next to you at work, your neighbor across the street, the cashier at your local store—they may be more ready to hear about God's love than you realize. But here's the sobering truth that Jesus also shared: while the harvest is ready, the workers are few. With 8.2 billion people in the world and only 29% identifying as Christian, the math is staggering. Every day, 173,000 people die, and if current statistics hold, 71% of them pass away without knowing Christ. This isn't meant to overwhelm us but to awaken us to the incredible opportunity before us. People are ready. The question is: are we ready to be the workers God is looking for?
Bible Verse
"Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.'" - Luke 10:2
Reflection Question
When you look at the people in your daily life—coworkers, neighbors, family members—can you see them as part of the ready harvest, and what's holding you back from engaging them with the gospel?
Quote
The harvest is ready today. People are eager to hear the truth. People are longing to hear what's true and what's real. They are longing to receive love. People deep down today are ready to be set free.
Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to see the harvest around me. Help me recognize that people are more ready to hear Your truth than I might think. Give me boldness to step into conversations and relationships where I can share Your love.
