A House Of Prayer For All Nations

Devotional
When Jesus entered the temple and overturned the money changers' tables, He wasn't just having a bad day. He was making a profound statement about what God's house should be—a place where all nations can come to pray and encounter Him. But here's the challenging question: if our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, what kind of temple are we? Jesus quoted Isaiah, declaring that God's house should be "a house of prayer for all nations." This wasn't just about the physical temple in Jerusalem—it was about God's heart for every people group on earth. When we become followers of Christ, we become living temples where God dwells, and that same calling applies to us. Sometimes we need Jesus to overturn some tables in our lives—to clear out the clutter that keeps us focused only on ourselves and our immediate circle. Maybe it's our comfort, our prejudices, or simply our lack of awareness about the world beyond our borders. When Jesus disrupts our self-centered routines, it's not to punish us but to realign us with His global heart. Praying for the nations isn't just a nice addition to our prayer life—it's central to who we're called to be as followers of Christ. When we intercede for unreached people groups, persecuted Christians, or nations in crisis, we're participating in God's heart for the world. We're allowing His love for all people to flow through us. The beautiful thing about praying for the nations is that it changes us. As we pray, God begins to show us how we can be part of the answer to our own prayers.
Bible Verse
"My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations." - Mark 11:17
Reflection Question
If Jesus were to examine your prayer life today, would He find a heart that regularly intercedes for all nations, or would He need to overturn some tables to refocus your attention?
Quote
The question is, are we in our temple, are we praying for the nations? Is my house where God dwells in me? Is it a house of prayer for the nations?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, make my heart a house of prayer for all nations. Clear out anything that keeps me focused only on myself and my immediate concerns. Give me Your heart for the world and show me how to pray effectively for the nations.
