Restoration Of What Was Lost

Devotional
Have you ever looked back at seasons of your life and felt a sense of loss? Perhaps years spent in the wrong relationship, time wasted in addiction, opportunities missed because of fear, or dreams deferred because of poor choices. We all have locusts that have eaten portions of our lives. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy—but God specializes in restoration. In Joel's day, literal locusts had devoured the land, leaving devastation in their wake. Yet God made an extraordinary promise: He would restore the years the locusts had eaten. This isn't just about material restoration, though God certainly can and does restore finances, health, and relationships. It's about something deeper—God's ability to redeem time itself. He doesn't just fix what was broken; He makes something beautiful from it. He doesn't just heal the wound; He uses the scar to bring healing to others. When we surrender our losses to God, He doesn't just compensate for them—He transforms them. The very areas where we've experienced our greatest pain often become the places of our greatest ministry. Nothing is wasted in God's economy. The years you thought were lost can become the foundation for a future more fruitful than you ever imagined.

Bible Verse
"I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you." - Joel 2:25

Reflection Question
What losses in your life do you need to surrender to God for restoration, and how might He be preparing to use those very experiences for His glory?

Quote
God promises to repay the years the locust has stolen. How many of us have had things stolen from us? That's what the enemy comes to do. He comes to steal, kill and destroy.

Prayer
Lord, I bring before You the years I feel have been stolen—time, opportunities, relationships, dreams. I surrender these losses to You, believing that You can restore what was taken and transform it into something beautiful. Help me to see Your redemptive purpose even in my pain. Thank You that nothing in my life is wasted when placed in Your hands. Amen.
