When They Call You Crazy

Devotional
During Paul's defense before King Agrippa, Festus interrupted with a startling accusation: "You are out of your mind, Paul! Your great learning is driving you insane." (Acts 26:24). Being called crazy didn't deter Paul—he calmly continued sharing his testimony. When we live authentically for Christ, we should expect similar reactions. The world can tolerate silent believers who don't make waves. It can even appreciate Christians who are simply nice people. But when we get serious about our faith—when we prioritize church, study Scripture, pray regularly, give generously, and allow Christ to transform our thinking and behavior—the world often doesn't know what to make of us. Rather than being discouraged by such reactions, we should see them as confirmation that our faith is visible and challenging to the status quo. Jesus Himself was accused of being out of His mind (Mark 3:21), so we're in good company. Today, don't be afraid of standing out or being misunderstood. Your distinctive life as a follower of Christ may be exactly what causes someone to question their own spiritual journey.
Bible Verse
"Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him." - Psalm 34:8
Reflection Question
Has anyone ever thought you were strange or extreme because of your faith? How did you respond, and what did that experience teach you about following Christ?
Quote
"If nobody has yet told you that you're nuts because you believe in Jesus, then keep telling people till somebody does, because then you'll know you're doing your job. If you can get 10 people to tell you you're nuts, then you're really doing a good job."
Prayer
Lord Jesus, give me courage to live distinctively for You, even when others don't understand. Help me respond with grace when misunderstood, and use my faithful witness to draw others to Yourself. May I never water down my faith to fit in, but instead stand firm in Your truth. Amen.
