Beyond Self Preservation

Devotional
True love for others often requires dying to ourselves. When we cling too tightly to our own comfort, safety, or reputation, we limit our ability to show Christ's love to those who oppose us. Paul demonstrated this principle powerfully when he sought to speak to the very crowd that had just tried to kill him. His concern wasn't for his own wellbeing, but for their salvation. This radical love flows from a heart that has found its ultimate security and identity in Christ.
Bible Verse
"To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law." - 1 Corinthians 9:20
Reflection Question
What would it look like in your life to love someone who opposes you more than your own comfort or safety?
Quote
I will never be able to truly love my enemies if I love my own life more than I love Jesus.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, give me Your heart for those who oppose me. Help me to die to my self-preservation instincts and love others as You love them. Fill me with Your courage and compassion. Amen.
