Daddy God

Devotional
There is a big difference between knowing about someone and actually knowing them. You can know facts about a person and still be a stranger to their heart. God doesn't want to be a concept you understand. He wants to be a Father you know. Intimately. Personally. The way a child knows a parent, not through a list of attributes, but through time spent together, through trust built over moments big and small. The word Abba, used in Romans 8, is not a formal title. It's the word a small child uses when they reach up their arms and want to be held. It's Daddy. It's personal. It's close. That is the kind of relationship God is extending to you right now. Not a transaction. Not a performance review. Just a Father with His arms open, wanting you to come close. Maybe that kind of closeness feels unfamiliar or even uncomfortable. That's okay. You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to take one step toward Him. He will close the rest of the distance. He always does.

Bible Verse
"So you have not received a Spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call him, 'Abba, Father.'" - Romans 8:15 (New Living Translation (NLT))

Reflection Question
What would change in your daily life if you genuinely believed that God wanted to be as close to you as a loving, present Father is to a young child?

Quote

"God wants to be Daddy. Daddy is intimate. Daddy is personal. Daddy is usually what we said naturally, when we were little ones, tiny little ones, we call Daddy Daddy."

Prayer
Abba, Father, teach me what it means to truly know You, not just know about You. I want the kind of closeness that only comes from time spent in Your presence. Amen.
