No Divided Heart

Devotional
Your heart has room for only one master. Jesus understood human nature when he taught that we cannot serve two masters—we'll inevitably love one and hate the other. This isn't about perfection; it's about direction. Every day, we face choices that reveal where our ultimate loyalty lies. Will we choose comfort over obedience? Security over surrender? Our own wisdom over God's will? The beauty of this truth is that it simplifies life. Instead of constantly juggling competing priorities, we can filter every decision through one question: 'What would honor Jesus?' When Christ is our master, other concerns find their proper place. Money becomes a tool for generosity, not a source of security. Relationships become opportunities to love like Jesus, not transactions for personal gain. This single-hearted devotion doesn't make life easier, but it makes it clearer.

Bible Verse
'No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.' - Matthew 6:24

Reflection Question
What 'second master' are you most tempted to serve alongside Jesus, and how is it affecting your relationship with him?

Quote
Either you'll hate one and love the other, or you'll cling to the one and despise the other.

Prayer
Lord, expose the divided loyalties in my heart and help me choose you above all else. Make my devotion to you undivided and complete.
