The Foundation of True Faith

Devotional
Many people want the benefits of following Jesus without counting the cost. They desire His peace, love, and eternal promises, but hesitate when faced with the demands of true discipleship. Jesus doesn't offer a casual relationship - He calls us to complete surrender. Self-denial isn't about giving up good things; it's about surrendering our right to be the center of our own lives. When we deny ourselves, we're choosing to crucify our ego and fleshly desires that pull us away from God's best. This isn't a one-time decision but a daily choice to put Christ first. The beautiful truth is that when we surrender our rights to Jesus, we discover the freedom and purpose we were always meant to have. God's plans for us are far better than anything we could design for ourselves.

Bible Verse
'Then he said to the crowd, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me."' - Luke 9:23 (New Living Translation)

Reflection Question
What areas of your life are you still trying to control instead of surrendering to Jesus?

Quote
To deny yourselves means to surrender your rights. To deny yourself means to crucify your ego and fleshly desires.

Prayer
Lord, help me to surrender my rights and desires to You completely. Give me the courage to deny myself daily and trust in Your perfect plan for my life.
