When Jesus Becomes Lord

Devotional
There's a beautiful paradox in following Jesus: when we give our lives away to Him, we actually find our true life. Many people struggle with the idea of surrender because they fear losing themselves. But the opposite is true – when Jesus becomes Lord of our lives, we discover who we were always meant to be. Surrender doesn't mean becoming a doormat or losing your personality. It means allowing Jesus to direct your steps, guide your decisions, and shape your priorities. Instead of asking "What do I want?" we learn to ask "What does Jesus want?" This shift transforms everything – our relationships, our work, our dreams, and our daily choices. When Jesus is truly Lord, our prayer life changes from a wish list to a conversation where we listen for His direction. We stop trying to convince God to bless our plans and start asking Him to reveal His plans for us. This surrendered life isn't restrictive – it's liberating, because we're finally living in alignment with our divine purpose.

Bible Verse
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:10

Reflection Question
In what areas of your life are you still trying to be the director instead of allowing Jesus to lead?

Quote
Jesus does not follow us. We're following Jesus means he is the Lord of our lives. He directs our life. He guides our life. He leads our life.

Prayer
Lord, I surrender my will to Yours. Help me trust that Your plans for my life are better than anything I could imagine for myself.
