The Best View From Below

Devotional
There's something counterintuitive about Jesus' teaching on greatness - the lower we go, the better our perspective becomes. When we stop striving to be above others and instead choose to serve alongside them, we gain a clearer view of what really matters. From this position, we can see people's real needs, understand their struggles, and offer genuine help. We're no longer worried about protecting our status or competing with others. Instead, we're free to celebrate others' successes and support them through their challenges. This doesn't mean we become doormats or lack ambition. It means our ambition is redirected toward making God's name great rather than our own. When we live this way, we discover that the view from below - the servant's perspective - is actually the most fulfilling place to be. It's where we find true purpose, lasting relationships, and the joy that comes from being part of something bigger than ourselves.
Bible Verse
'So the last will be first, and the first will be last.' - Mark 10:31 (New Living Translation)
Reflection Question
What would change in your relationships and daily interactions if you truly embraced the servant's perspective?
Quote
How about we stay low? How about we just keep going lower and just stay right here? This is the best view. This is the best place to be.
Prayer
God, help me find joy in serving others and making Your name great. Give me the wisdom to see that the servant's position is the place of greatest blessing.
