RETURN TO FIRST LOVE

Scripture Reading:
Revelation 2:1–5

Devotional:
It is possible to be busy for God while growing distant from Him. The church at Ephesus had impressive credentials—endurance, discernment, and moral integrity—yet Christ identified a dangerous drift in their hearts. Activity had replaced intimacy.

Consider the quality of your relationship with God today compared to when you first believed. Has the fire cooled? Has duty replaced delight? Have the responsibilities of serving God slowly taken the place of simply spending time with Him?

Our first love is not merely a feeling to chase but a relationship to nurture through daily, intentional time in His presence. What we spend time with, we grow closer to.

God is calling us to return—not through striving, religious activity, or performance, but through drawing near to Him with a willing heart.

Reflection:
Have I become so busy doing things for God that I have neglected spending meaningful time with Him?

Today's Application:
Set aside uninterrupted time today to sit quietly before God. No agenda, no requests, and no distractions. Simply receive His love and allow His presence to renew your heart.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I have allowed busyness to replace intimacy with You. Restore the joy, passion, and devotion I once had. Teach me to seek Your presence above everything else and to love You with my whole heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
