Rooted Deep Enough To Stand

Devotional
A tree survives a storm not because the storm is gentle, but because its roots go deep.

Jesus warned about the seed that fell on rocky ground. It received the Word immediately with joy, but when trouble and persecution came, it quickly fell away.

The problem wasn't the seed.

The problem was the depth of the roots.

Deep faith is not suddenly developed when the storm arrives. It is cultivated beforehand through the quiet, consistent disciplines of Scripture, prayer, worship, surrender, and obedience.

We cannot live on someone else's relationship with God. We cannot borrow someone else's prayer life, conviction, or spiritual roots when pressure comes.

Sunday cannot be the only place where our roots grow.

Every ordinary day spent with God is preparing us for the extraordinary days when our faith will be tested.

The question isn't simply whether storms will come.

The question is:

How deeply are you planted before they arrive?

Are you intentionally developing your spiritual roots during seasons of peace so you can remain standing during seasons of pressure?

Choose a specific time each day this week for Scripture and prayer. Protect that time and treat it as essential nourishment rather than an optional activity.

Prayer
Father, root me deeply in You. Give me a hunger for Your Word and a desire for Your presence that goes beyond Sunday. Build something deep within me that circumstances cannot easily shake. Amen.
