Getting Egypt Out of You

? Reading: Romans 12:1–2
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..."
— Romans 12:2 (ESV)

Devotional
Leaving Egypt was only the beginning of Israel's journey. The greater challenge was allowing Egypt to leave them. Although they were physically free, their minds often remained bound by fear, doubt, and the mindset of slavery.

The same is true for us as believers. Salvation brings us out of the world, but the renewing of our minds is what removes the world's influence from within us. God doesn't simply rescue us from our past—He transforms us into something entirely new.

In Romans 12, Paul calls us to present our lives as a living sacrifice. Unlike a one-time offering, this is a daily decision to surrender our thoughts, attitudes, desires, and actions to Christ. Transformation doesn't happen by accident. It happens as we continually replace the lies we've believed with the truth of God's Word.

Old labels such as unworthy, defeated, rejected, or not enough have no place in the identity Christ has given you. As you spend time in Scripture, listen to the Holy Spirit, and stay connected to the body of Christ, God faithfully reshapes your thinking. Little by little, your heart begins to reflect His heart, and your mind begins to think His thoughts.
Freedom is not simply about leaving your old life behind—it's about allowing God to create a new way of thinking that reflects your new identity in Him.

? Life Application
Take a few moments today to identify one unhealthy thought or belief that keeps resurfacing in your mind. Write it down, then find a Scripture that speaks God's truth over that area. Each time the old thought returns, intentionally replace it with God's Word. Remember, renewing your mind is not a one-time event—it is a daily practice of surrender and trust.

? Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for saving me and calling me into a new life through Jesus Christ. Help me not only to leave my old life behind but to allow You to renew my mind each day. Reveal any thoughts, beliefs, or patterns that do not align with Your truth, and give me the courage to surrender them to You.

Fill my heart with Your Word, guide me by Your Holy Spirit, and surround me with believers who encourage me to grow in faith. Transform me from the inside out so that my life reflects Your goodness, Your love, and Your purpose.

Today I choose to offer myself as a living sacrifice, trusting that You are making me more like Christ with each passing day.
In Jesus' name, Amen. ??
