Free But Still Thinking Like a Slave

After 430 years in Egypt, the Israelites walked out free. But freedom from a place does not automatically mean freedom in your mind. Old patterns, old fears, and old ways of seeing yourself do not disappear just because your circumstances change. The chains were gone, but the mindset lingered. That is a picture many of us know personally. You have been saved. You have been delivered. But somewhere in the back of your mind, the old voice still speaks. It tells you that you are not enough, that you will never change, that you are still defined by where you came from. That voice is lying to you. Transformation is not automatic. It is intentional. It happens as we consistently bring our thinking into alignment with what God says is true about us. You are not who you used to be. You are not what you have done. You are not what was done to you. You are a new creation, and it is time to start thinking like one. God did not set you free so you could stay mentally stuck. He set you free so you could rise up and do what He created you to do. That starts with how you think.
Bible Verse
'Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.' - Romans 12:2 (New Living Translation (NLT))
Reflection Question
What is one lie about yourself or your past that you have been holding onto, and what does God's Word actually say that contradicts it?
Quote
"We're saved, but still thinking like slaves. Even in this culture today, the mentality is still so strong. It's still holding on to people. But you've been released. Released to rise up. Released to do the thing that he created you to do for his glory."
Prayer
Lord, renew my mind today. Where I have been thinking like a slave, teach me to think like someone who has truly been set free by You. Amen.
