It Is About the Relationship, Not the Results

Devotional
f you are honest, how much of your prayer life is a list of requests? There is nothing wrong with bringing your needs to God. He invites that. But there is a deeper invitation on the table, and it is easy to miss. We were created for relationship with God. Not just to receive from Him, but to walk with Him. When we reduce God to a vending machine, we miss the whole point. And ironically, we also miss out on the very things we are asking for, because we are not yet ready to carry them well. Here is the beautiful truth: as you walk with God for who He is, you become who you were created to be. His character starts to shape yours. His peace starts to replace your anxiety. His perspective starts to replace your fear. You do not just get what you need. You become someone who can steward it. This is why waiting on God is so powerful. It is not just a delay. It is a transformation. Time in His presence changes you from the inside out. And when you are changed, everything around you starts to shift too. Do not just use God for what you want. Walk with Him for who He is. That is where the real breakthrough begins.

Bible Verse
"The Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever." - Hebrews 13:8 (New Living Translation (NLT))

Reflection Question
Are you pursuing God for what He can give you, or are you genuinely pursuing Him for who He is? What would it look like to shift that focus?

Quote
"It's not about getting. It's not just using God for what I want. It's about walking with God for who He is. And then as I walk with God for who He is, I become who I am."

Prayer
Father, forgive me for the times I have treated You like a resource instead of a relationship. I want to know You, not just what You can do for me. Draw me closer to You today. Amen.
