When Human Strength Isn't Enough

Devotional
Have you ever faced a task so overwhelming that you wondered how you'd ever complete it? Zerubbabel knew this feeling intimately. After twelve years of stalled construction, the temple rebuilding project seemed impossible. Persecution, discouragement, and competing priorities had created a mountain of obstacles that human effort couldn't overcome. Perhaps you're facing your own mountain today - a financial crisis, a health challenge, a broken relationship, or a dream that seems too big. Like Zerubbabel, you might be tempted to rely solely on your own might and power. But God has a different way. The Lord of hosts - the ruler over all armies both spiritual and material - doesn't need our human strength to accomplish His purposes. He's looking for hearts that recognize their need for His supernatural intervention. When we reach the end of our own abilities, we're perfectly positioned to experience His power. Zerubbabel's story reminds us that God often allows us to face impossible situations so we'll learn to depend on Him rather than ourselves. The very obstacles that seem to block our path can become opportunities to witness His miraculous provision. Today, instead of straining under the weight of what you cannot do, consider surrendering your limitations to the One who has no limits. Your mountain may look immovable, but it's not bigger than the God who moves mountains.

Bible Verse
'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty. - Zechariah 4:6

Reflection Question
What 'mountain' in your life are you trying to move through your own strength instead of trusting God's Spirit to work through you?

Quote
Not by might nor by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts.

Prayer
Lord, I confess that I often try to accomplish Your purposes through my own limited strength. Help me to surrender my mountains to You and trust in Your Spirit's power rather than my own might. Teach me to depend on You completely. Amen.
