📖 In Revelation 2:1–7, Jesus speaks to the church in Ephesus, a congregation known for its sound doctrine, hard work, perseverance, and commitment to truth. They had faithfully opposed false teaching and remained steadfast through difficult circumstances. Yet in the midst of all they were doing for God, they had drifted from the very thing that mattered most. Jesus lovingly confronts them with these sobering words: "You have forsaken the love you had at first."

This passage reminds believers that it is possible to be busy in ministry while growing distant in intimacy. A church can be active, faithful, doctrinally sound, and outwardly successful, yet still lose sight of the relationship that should be at the center of everything. God never intended service to replace devotion, nor ministry to replace intimacy. The Christian life begins with loving Jesus, and it must continue from that same place of love.
