Justice Will Come

Devotional
In a world where injustice often seems to prevail, Obadiah's prophecy offers a powerful reassurance: God sees, and God will act. The Edomites thought they had gotten away with their betrayal and cruelty, but God's justice, though sometimes delayed, is never denied. This promise of divine justice brings comfort when we witness evil seemingly going unpunished. Whether it's personal wrongs against us or global atrocities that break our hearts, we can rest in the knowledge that nothing escapes God's notice. However, this truth should prompt sobriety rather than smugness. The same God who promises to judge others will also evaluate our lives. This isn't about vindictive pleasure in others' punishment but about trusting in the perfect justice of God. Jesus taught that the measure we use for others will be used for us. This should make us cautious about demanding swift justice for others while hoping for mercy in our own case. The cross stands as the ultimate demonstration that God takes sin seriously—so seriously that He bore its penalty Himself rather than simply overlooking it. While we wait for God's final justice, we're called to live justly ourselves—treating others fairly, speaking truth, defending the vulnerable, and leaving vengeance in God's hands. Today, consider areas where you might be harboring bitterness over injustice. Can you release these to God, trusting in His perfect timing and judgment?

Bible Verse
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." - 1 John 2:15

Reflection Question
How does the assurance of God's eventual justice change how you respond to injustice in your own life or in the world around you?

Quote
"Take comfort in the fact that God will eventually right all wrongs. He will. He will punish all those who have done wrong. He will reward all those who have been faithful to follow his call and live according to his ways."

Prayer
God of justice, I confess that sometimes I grow weary waiting for wrongs to be made right. Thank You for the assurance that You see everything and will one day bring perfect justice. Help me to trust Your timing and to focus on living justly myself rather than becoming bitter. In Jesus' name, amen.
