Walking In Spiritual Authority

Devotional
Throughout Paul's journey to Rome, we see him exercising spiritual authority—warning of danger, encouraging others during the storm, surviving a snake bite, and healing the sick on Malta. Despite being a prisoner in chains, Paul carried an authority that transcended his circumstances. As believers, we too have been given spiritual authority through Christ. This isn't about dominating others or demanding our way; it's about standing firm in the truth, resisting evil, and advancing God's kingdom regardless of our external circumstances. Many Christians live far below their spiritual privileges, allowing circumstances, other people, or their own insecurities to dictate their lives. But like Paul, we can learn to walk in the authority Christ has given us—speaking truth when lies abound, bringing peace to chaotic situations, and demonstrating God's power through our lives. Spiritual authority isn't something we muster up through our own strength or willpower. It flows naturally when we remain connected to Christ, filled with His Spirit, and grounded in His Word. It's not about who we are but Whose we are that gives us this authority.

Bible Verse
"The seventy-two returned with joy and said, 'Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.'" - Luke 10:17

Reflection Question
In what situation do you need to exercise the spiritual authority Christ has given you rather than feeling powerless or overwhelmed?

Quote
"When you carry the spirit of the Lord with you, you are the majority. No matter how many people are against you, you are the authority. You have that. I'm telling you, he gives it to you. He wants you to stand on that."

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the spiritual authority You've given me as Your follower. Help me walk confidently in this authority—not in pride but in humble dependence on You. Show me how to exercise this authority to bring Your kingdom purposes to fruition in my sphere of influence. In Your mighty name, amen.
